Imagine my surprise when looking at the Audit Commission’s SHBC Affordable Housing Report, dated February 9 2006. In the report I found that SHBC’s rating was “providing a poor, no-star service that has poor prospects for improvement”. As I thought it was very unlikely that Michael Gove, being the Shadow Minister for Housing, could possibly have got it wrong, I thought all the other boroughs must have a rating worse than “poor”, but then on further investigation found most of them seemed to have a rating of “fair”and some of them even had a rating of “good”. It then occurred to me that SHBC must have engineered a remarkable turnaround in the last year, though I am a trifle mystified as to why we have heard so little of this minor miracle. I feel that someone should inform the Audit Commission.
